From Teacher Becky:
Access ANY and ALL free websites for both parents and students. Minimum of 30 minutes of reading, ANY kind, a day. Stay/Keep/Create a regular schedule that varies throughout the day, including rest/free choice time
Discuss what’s going on in their heads, – communicate & discuss feelings/emotions. Adults too! Find time for yourself and to unwind. Allow yourself to make mistakes and know that this will pass. We’re all doing the best we can.
Always can ask kid’s teachers, counselors, admin., etc. for help/ideas.
Make sure outside time when weather’s nice. Even more so than inside. Gotta get that vitamin D!
Don’t forget sunscreen!
Take breaks throughout the day.
Teacher Becky also shared this wonderful Quarantine Capsule from Big Life Journal. I highly recommend that website so be sure to check it out.

From Teacher Aarolyn:
Patience is a virtue and be creative. They can learn math while cooking. I think the lost art of learning and reciting poetry is a good one. As a child I spent 3 summers at a lady’s house in OP and she taught us so many things. Cooking, sewing, swimming, black poetry and black history etc… I will never forget the experiences I had at Mrs. Green’s house. I learned sooo much.
From Principal Carissa
I think the biggest thing is creating a routine….working for a time period…having a break…then working some more. I also think a nice work space makes it nice for the kids…not in front of distractions like the TV lol.
Thank you Becky, Aarolyn and Carissa. You’re great little helpers!
