Little Helpers For Halloween!

Since we all were kids, we’ve known Halloween to be a scary night that turns fun after going trick or treating.  But how did it all start?  What does Halloween really mean?  According to Encyclopedia Britannica, “Halloween, contraction of All Hallows’ Eve, a holiday observed on October 31, the evening before All Saints’ (or All Hallows’) Day. The celebration marks the day before the Western Christian feast of All Saints and initiates the season of Allhallowtide, which lasts three days and concludes with All Souls’ Day.”  Wow! That sounds serious!  And why pumpkins and witches and black cats?  Check out the website “Your Beaver County” to find out! http://www.yourbeavercounty.com/5-halloween-symbols-origins/

Interesting!

Now let’s get to the fun stuff that we all know about – Halloween crafts and decorations!  Olivia loves to color and decorate Easter eggs.  But it’s not Easter, it’s Halloween! Olivia made these Halloween eggs a few years ago before she had such a busy schedule.   She colored them, painted them, put googly eyes on them and gave them hair.  Let’s not forget these festive works of art that Olivia made with her own little hands and feet – literally!

Let’s make sure everyone has a great Halloween.  Put out a teal pumpkin to indicate that you’re giving out non-food treats.  I got one from Oriental Trading as well as a treasure chest of about 100 little toys for those with food allergies – but hurry – allow time for shipping!
