From Barb Lamb: I let my grandkids compete who can pick up and put away toys the quickest. I use the stop watch on my phone and get them counting with me. I always call them good listeners and good helpers to encourage them.

Great idea! Thanks Barb.

As a school counselor by trade I am often asked how can we support our kids. I would say love, hugs, and an open ear are the key. By being aware of your childs needs is the key to helping transition them back to the grind of the school year. Creating consistency as best you can when it come to a school schedule and home schedule. Communicate to them that you are there to help. Model good study skills create a planner and a plan and stick to it with positive reinforcement. Start early get kids on a sleep schedule and a eating schedule. I know I know seems simple but it is the little things that make a difference. Last make learning fun and enjoy your time with that special little one. Kevin Botos M.A. LLPC

First of all cousin you are a saint and your job has always been 24 7. Even with the struggles that you went with through the years I still see Roger every once in awhile and he still has that same wit about him. Which is awesome! and I’m glad to see that he’s living life with a smile. As you know early in my childhood I dealt with Tourette syndrome and it was a struggle for me and my folks especially with school and teachers and also my peers. But it’s one of those things that as a strong person you get through which will Roger has done tremendously well at and he’s got you by your side which is awesome as well. Much love to you cousin!

Thanks Justin, what a great idea. Rog carves and his specialty is birds. He is always feeding the birds. I’m going to have the grandkids do this project. I wonder if there is a kit available. Not only will this project help with the bird feeding, but it’s something Grampy will actually be able to help the kids with rather than vice versa. Thanks again and stay tuned for pictures!

What a great page! Glad I found it, some great recipes and ideas to do with the kids. I’m not a grandpa but my dad is and I’m always helping him with ideas of things to do with the kids. Papas little helper for sure getting tools, helping screw in a built. Try having the kids make a bird house with grandpa and painting it! They will love it!

I love this recipe and the idea of this article! I am always looking for inspiration for dinner, and I usually wait until I am too hungry to concentrate (or my diners are too hungry to wait)! I plan to keep these items on hand so I am ready for the next time I need to come up with a delicious, quick recipe! Thanks!
